Hello Ld and welcome to Wikipedia! Hope you like it here, and stick around.

Here are some tips to help you get started:

Good luck!

Would you mind telling me why you removed my comment on Roguelazer's vote? Did you think I was attacking him? Was my wording improper? JRM 02:00, 2004 Dec 27 (UTC)

I would not delete your or anyone's comment, even if I did not agree with it. I think what happened is that you made the comment while I was adding my vote and it got lost in the process. I'm not entirely sure how Wikipedia works in these cases. I will now try to restore it, sorry for the mixup. -Ld | talk 02:11, 27 Dec 2004 (UTC)
What's supposed to happen in these cases is that either of us gets an edit conflict, which forces us to merge our new edits with the current revision. In this case, since your vote successfully ended up on top of my comment, and then an edit was put in that removed my comment, it looked as if you purposefully deleted it, hence my question. I'm sure either your browser or the database just had a hiccup, though. Thanks for clearing it up. JRM 02:23, 2004 Dec 27 (UTC)
I see what you mean, it looks like I edited it twice, although I don't recall doing so. I probably got mixed up with all my tabs in Firefox. I think it's back to normal now. -Ld | talk 02:33, 27 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Goa Trance

[edit]

Hey Ld, just wanted to say great work on the psy goa articles the new artist page is great and I notice quite a few new stubs. Keep up the great work! Htaccess 09:25, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Thanks! I think the artist page will serve multiple purposes:
  1. Pick up orphaned psy articles - I noticed we have quite a few in the process.
  2. Serve as a central list without cluttering up the main articles.
  3. Encourage people to write about their favorite artists.
Hopefully it will work out. :) -Ld | talk 16:18, 2 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Hey, I noticed that you're into goa/psy, and I've actually got some mp3s of some mixes that I can dropload to you, notably my Hightener mix that I've created for the Everything2 Weeknight Sound Track project. (There really should be a quick option for linking to E2 from here, I swear. :) ) That is some great work on the goa and psytrance articles. I actually fixed a couple of minor errors in the psytrance article a long time ago. :) Myrkabah 19:43, 21 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Psy track

[edit]

ld can you please help me to recognise some PSy-track that i have and dont know what it isVorash 13:55, 16 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Sure, why not. -Ld | talk 16:35, 16 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Its here: MP3 Sample
I also wanted to ask you what you think about adding some mp3s as defining genre
to articles of Goa and Psy-trance.Vorash 21:23, 16 Jan 2005 (UTC)
It's definatelly released after 2000, probably Israeli. Sounds a lot like Sesto Sento, but could be something else. What tracks do you have in mind for adding to the articles? -Ld | talk 22:40, 16 Jan 2005 (UTC)
I wanted to add Muses Rapt,Astral Projection to Goa.....and to Psy i dont know...HOw much it should be in length 1 min or so ?Vorash 00:59, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)
It seems MP3's are not allowed on Wikipedia. You would have to encode it to Ogg. See these rules for details [1]. The longest music sample I have seen here was 20 seconds and encoded at ~65kbps. I think you should do the same (not more then 30 seconds probably) so that they would not decide to delete it. -Ld | talk 01:43, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)
OK, I figured out how to do it:
  1. Convert MP3 to WAV
  2. Cut out about 30-40 seconds of the WAV file you want to use (you can use the sound recorder that comes with Windows for this).
  3. Download the Vorbis encoder at http://www.vorbis.com/download_win_1.0.1.psp and extract it to a directory.
  4. Run "oggenc -q 0 myfile.wav" at the command prompt.
I've put up two files so far, by Etnica andf Talamasca. Feel free to add more. If you want me to help you out with converting some stuff let me know. -Ld | talk 05:38, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Good job you did with a tracks ! Thank you !Vorash 18:59, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)
I puted a track that i a sked you to id on psynews forum .Maybe they will recognise this. I wanted to ask you another qiestion - maybe you know who did a remix on Muses rapt "spiritual healing" . I had two versions. One is an original, that you puted as a sample and second one more popular, that i heard on radio ,its sounds more "progressive".But unfortunately i didnt find who did it.Maybe you know ?Vorash 19:16, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)
There are many remixes of this track .. it's probably one of these. -Ld | talk 21:09, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Thank you for infoVorash 22:45, 17 Jan 2005 (UTC)

ld i wanted to ask you how you determine the popularity of the artists? By number of discogs.com members that have any particular album?Vorash 03:18, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Also X-Dream's Trip To Trancesylvania was originally released in 1993 (See here) and here) and was rereleased in 1997. Only 20 members have it ,which is not so popular.Vorash 03:55, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)
There are 2 versions of that album, one is called "In the Mix". Also the list was intended to have notable albums, not necessarily popular. For example, today albums sell a lot more copies than they used to in 1993, when this music was still mostly unknown. -Ld | talk 17:22, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Articles about Belarusian cities

[edit]

Will be good to make discussion how to name articles about Belarusian cities. I think they should be named based on transliteration from Belarusian name with redirects from Russian transliteration. Mikkalai and Rydel (indeed other could participate too) are active contributors to Belarus related articles with good knowledge of subject.

Please place these articles in Category:Towns in Belarus.

Will be great if all Belarus related public domain/GFDL/Creative Commons images will be uploaded to commons: for sharing with other Wikipedia (Belarusian one is first consumer :-)

Thank you. --EugeneZelenko 03:00, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)

I agree, they should use the Belarussian names. Unfortunatelly I didn't realize that at first and probably created a few that are not .. feel free to move/redirect them. - Ld | talk 03:13, 20 Jan 2005 (UTC)

Why did you tag this image as a work of the U.S. federal government? I see from your user page that you're from the U.S., so you should have been aware of the difference between federal and local government. I changed the tag to fair use instead. Postdlf 21:30, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I see where you might be comming from. I assumed this qualified as PD since it originated from a .gov site and there was no copyright notice stating otherwise. -Ld | talk 21:32, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)
.gov sites are obviously not all federal, but are also used by state and municipal governments. Whether works of state or local governments are public domain depends on whether the particular state or city has decided to commit their works to the public domain or retain copyright, as they are permitted to do either under U.S. copyright law. The copyright notice at the very bottom of http://www.nyc.gov/ shows that the city claims copyright in its works. If the shield design is sufficiently old enough, then any copyright would have expired and the general {{PD}} tag may be applied. If not, I still think use of this particular image would pass a fair use test.
The PD-USGov tag, on the other hand, is only for works of the federal government, which, by federal statute, are all committed to the public domain. Postdlf 21:47, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Mandra Gora, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at its talk page. Removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, but the article may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. 172.144.246.221 19:24, 6 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Raymond W Kelly.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Raymond W Kelly.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:48, 7 January 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECUtalk 16:48, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Valve logo.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Valve logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Fair use rationale for Image:AllAdvantage.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:AllAdvantage.gif. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Randy Constan, an article you created, has been nominated for deletion. We appreciate your contributions. However, an editor does not feel that Randy Constan satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Randy Constan and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of Randy Constan during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:X-Dream-1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. Please also consider using {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. Thank you. CO2 02:47, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use Image:Kalinkovichi_coat_of_arms.gif

[edit]
Replaceable fair use
Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Kalinkovichi_coat_of_arms.gif. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information.

Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Calliopejen1 22:19, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Voodoo People

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Voodoo People, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Voodoo People seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Voodoo People, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Image source problem with Image:Cs games.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Cs games.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use.

If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:09, 6 December 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr If you've written a quality article... 19:09, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Order Odonata.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Order Odonata.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:06, 2 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Sri Hari

An editor has nominated Sri Hari, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sri Hari and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 18:59, 7 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:DanceMonkeyBoy.png)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:DanceMonkeyBoy.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 18:55, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Prime suspect.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading Image:Prime suspect.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 16:25, 8 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Flying rhino.jpg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Speedy deletion of Passenger (musical project)

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Passenger (musical project) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics.

Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Proposed deletion of AOL disk collecting

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article AOL disk collecting, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Notability in question.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:26, 9 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article D-Tek has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Does not meet Notability guidelines. Additionally a template to this effect has been posted close to a year with no improvements. The only mention of this artist I could find was MySpace and Twitter.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. My76Strat (talk) 03:14, 11 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Solstice Music International requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Fair use rationale for File:Full Moon Party.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Full Moon Party.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 03:12, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Old Babruysk.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Fuzzion requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Replaceable fair use File:Peter braunstein.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Peter braunstein.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 19:15, 22 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
