Need for thorough editing and credible citations
[edit]This article needs thorough editing and credible citations. There are some lines and citations here that don't go hand in hand. Meaning, the data/information that the websites presented had been twisted when they were quoted in here... I don't have sufficient time yet to do the overhauling. Not in the coming few days. —Preceding unsigned comment added by System787 (talk • contribs) 16:18, 15 July 2009 (UTC)
Proposed Link
[edit]Hi, I'm working with The Pulitzer Center, a non-profit journalism agency geared towards providing audience to underrepresented news stories. I'd like to link this page to a related articles on the Pulitzer site; http://www.pulitzercenter.org/showproject.cfm?id=30 concerning The MILF peace process. Please let me know if I can post these links. Many thanks in advance. Blendus 00:55, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
Added other definition of MILF
[edit]Muammar Gaddafi became a longstanding supporter of the MILF after its emergence. — based, LOL
I just added the mature ladies meaning of MILF, I shyed away from saying "Mother I'd Like to Flabberghast", I wasn't sure if I should, I know there's a page on fuck, but I thought someone who knew the system better could decide for me. SimonMayer
Never mind, I've seen the List of acronyms page has it. I'll make a note of it on the actual MILF page. SimonMayer
So, er... has anyone let the Moro Islamic Liberation Front know what their acronym is more commonly used for? I know it's not important (or encyclopedic?) but I'd love to know. Optimus Sledge 00:15, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I would like to know if they know. Do they have a web page or e mail address? Is there much confusion from porn fans who end up in the Philipines?
I honestly think the milf thing id pretty funny that i added it in me profile but do we really need it it kinda makes the artical kinda ridiculas. unless someone kind find a resonable expination for this scronym im taking it out.(Esskater11 23:28, 30 April 2007 (UTC))
Heh, I can't take seriously any dinky, wannabe ruler outfit whose accronym is MILF. (121.220.233.20 (talk) 22:04, 17 November 2008 (UTC))

I can't take this article seriously. "Despite the MILF peace treaty..." My mind gets wandering. Fortibus (talk) 08:47, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
Beheading

comment
[edit]Our author says, "On July 12, 2007, Islamic militants in Basilan, southern Philippines killed 14 marines, beheading 10 of them..." But there is still an ongoing investigation about who did the heheadings. The person who wrote this article obviously missed this point.
My guess is that the government had no business being in MILF territory, and when they went in there with the lame excuse of rescuing the Italian priest, they received what might be considered an appropriate respose. We have no idea who mutilated the corpses, but the government had access to the bodies, so the government is also a suspect, and, I would say, an obvious one. What would the government gain by this? An excuse for further incursions (perhaps at the behest of the United States) into MILF strongholds. It appears, however, that Arroyo has wisely called off plans for such an incursion. Nice to see a terrorist lover on wikipedia. Beheading is a proper response he says...amazing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.121.133.133 (talk) 11:19, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Recent Developments
[edit]Added some news on the peace deal... --Breuns (talk) 14:11, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
Continous reverts by IP-editors.
[edit]62.150.218.55 has changed twice at the same position ("terrorist attacks" to "many attacks") in IMO an attempt to have the MILF look more legitimate/civilized. Intrestingly http://www.cdi.org/terrorism/moro.cfm talks about
Its recent cooperative stature with the government, however, could be seen as an attempt to evade the corrosive "terrorist" label.
If there is another edit of this sort without being first discussed on this talk page or at least with hints for changes given in the "summary section" I will notify an administrator for furter actions.--Unapiedra (talk) 11:34, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
Fair scope
[edit]Due to sensitivity of this article, it is suggest that qualified Wikipedian-who is either from Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao or is Muslim-should be able to give fair and impartial editing on this scope. Dmaestoso DRC 07:04, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
Invalid Statement
[edit]Petalcorin (talk) 10:50, 8 May 2011 (UTC)Take note that Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) are two different groups. The statement "The MNLF established the formation of an independent Islamic state in the southern Philippines and took part in terrorist[4][5] attacks and assassinations to achieve their goals" is not supported by the reference provided.Petalcorin (talk) 10:50, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hopefully, this is an improvement. Please tweak as needed to further improve article conformance to info in cited sources. Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 21:12, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
Petalcorin (talk) 12:50, 13 May 2011 (UTC)Another incorrect statement is the founding of MILF as 1981. According the book Under the Crescent Moon- Rebellion in Mindanao, the founder of MILF Hashim Salamat told the investigative writer that "MILF was officially born in 1984, however it had begun taking shape many years earlier... and MILF's first original name was New MNLF in 21 Sept 1977 by 57 former MNLF officers led by the Kutawato Revolutionary Committee... on that date they signed a petition to Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) to ouster MNLF Founder and Chairman Nur Misuari... but the OIC was perturbed". However, on MNLF record, the people behind the formation MILF had already stopped their membership in MNLF around September 1976 when they mutineered against Nur Misuari's decision to accept the peace negotiation that led to the signing of the 23 Dec 1976 Tripoli Agreement. Petalcorin (talk) 12:50, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
Article has to be updated.
[edit]Due to the recent talks regarding the MILF's withdrawal from secession plans, which was made during President Aquino's meeting with the MILF in Tokyo, Japan. Joshua manimtim2 (talk) 07:15, 7 August 2011 (UTC)
NPOV
[edit]The introduction in the article shamelessly promotes the organization in a clearly non-neutral fashion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.192.18.60 (talk) 22:30, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- Can you explain what is non-neutral about it? GB fan 23:16, 13 October 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not the person who made that observation but, aside from the fact that the section is a (forbidden) WP:COPYPASTE of a paragraph from the About us page of http://www.luwaran.com, one might question whether it is NPOV to assert "Current Islamic resistance to oppression as a common cause for all Muslim social, political and armed organization is, above all, the struggle against injustice, the freedom to resist imposition, and the right to determine their future political status." Wtmitchell (talk) (earlier Boracay Bill) 01:24, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
- I've fixed it. It was a bit of vandalism added two days ago, as seen here. I've reverted to before it was added. This resulted in the removal of the NPOV tag, but I assume everyone is okay with that since the POV problems in the lede have been removed. SilverserenC 01:42, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
dubious claims under the "Basilan Beheading Incident" section
[edit]In the Basilan Beheading Incident section, some of the numerical conventions sound very strange, claiming that "about four" insurgents were killed.
The modifier about is being used to show that the number is not exact, but approximate. How can the number four not be exact? This is not a normal convention in the English language, because four is an exact, and not very large number.
If the facts of the incident are really so unreliable that the number of insurgents killed is a total guess, why not say "the exact number of insurgents killed is unknown"? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brianc26 (talk • contribs) 01:39, 4 August 2012 (UTC)
Need Correction in MILF, Doing Justice to MILF
[edit]There is a need to correct or perhaps the entire overhaul of the provided information and/ or entries in this web page to do justice to Moro Islamic Liberation Front. This is so serious that the Administrator has to consider in the light of what has been happening in the Philippines and the political change it has brought to people's lives in the conflict areas in Southern Philippine including the resolve of both parties in conflict to end hostilities in the ground through forging a peace talks. This entire picture will truly give negative understanding a thing of the past. I hope this will be brought to mind after having understood that the Wikipedia project is focused on terrorism project. My best intention here is to improve the content of this webpage. As many observers will bear me outl several history experts and avid fans of Wikipedia took notice of the misrepresentation and misinformation brought forth in this project and created mixed reactions.
My apology for my special objection of this project but I do believe the necessary scholarly correction is imperative to right the wrong understanding and impression received by thousand of Wikipedia site visitors upon browsing this page. MILF has truly been negatively known particularly by its own acronym as nasty depiction of pornographic materials but let us have justice by putting entries that objective, relevant and accurate about MILF, its history and how it conduct its political organization. For the past year, I have notice editions, entries and addition of information that are entirely not exactly an true fact about MILF and many missing information that looked like MILF is a terrorist organization. This needs careful attention to facts and not simply news feeds from sources that are contained with propaganda messages.
Another unnecessary information are those that were provided with organizations' name such as Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society and Young Moro Professional Network to be specific which are not necessary at all that clearly wanted to promote their organizations. In order for this site to be objective it has contain information that is focused mainly for MILF and do away from misinformation and the danger posed by credit grabbers.
Last few days, I noticed corrections and it was somehow impressive but but I was sad to learn once again that it was reverted from its original post. Nevertheless, I am proposing that a necessary correction will be made to give justice to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
Thanks,

Ideology of MILF is Ahmadism?
[edit]Can someone please cite the references as to how Ahmadism is part of MILF's ideology? When I click on the link to Ahmadism, it goes to Ahmadiyyah page which is the same movement founded by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. I find this inconsistent as the ideology of MILF is more inline with Salafist or Ikhwani (Muslim brotherhood-like) organisations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.23.60.6 (talk) 05:33, 16 January 2017 (UTC)
